Time To Smell The Roses

courtesy extension.missouri.edu/
I was reading something recently about simplicity.  It went on to say that when we are busy in whatever we do in our lives, we don't have time to be that creative child that we used to be.

When we are freed up from that busy job it allows us to get to the simple things in life.  The simple things being taking a walk, watching an ant, smelling the roses, laughing and acting silly and just being with our kids.

It springtime again.  In my part of the world anyway.  Spring is a time of renewal.  The tree have all of their buds on and some even have leaves already.  I've spent some time in my garden adding fresh soil to the plants and just generally tending to them.

It never fails to amaze me that just a few short week ago there was snow on the ground and now the trees have thawed and are ready to put forth their lovely foliage.  Isn't the UNIVERSE incredible?

As the days get warmer the options open for bike riding, walking, hiking, jogging and other outside activities.

I took a walk with my daughter and her little friend this weekend.  We took a path nearby that allowed us to stay away from traffic but enabled us to enjoy a peaceful stroll.    As we walked, there were many others who were out for a bike ride.

On the trail, we saw many flowers peeking out and could smell the various perfume from the fragrant ones.

Looking back now, I'm glad that we got together for that walk.  These are the little things that we take for granted.  If you get a chance, or why not create an opportunity and get outside and smell the roses.  I know they are not quite ready yet but the tulips and many other spring flowers are opening up and displaying their beauty.  Take notice and enjoy.
